From a 16th-century inn to today's hotel, the origin of our Markushof has a rich history. The original building, now home to Hotel Markushof and the tavern "Zur Rose," was constructed in the 16th century. Even then, the stables and barns of the former inn served as a resting place for stagecoaches, where horses were changed. Travelers had the opportunity to rest and stay overnight in this historic location.
After various changes of ownership, our great-grandfather, Daniel Graiff, acquired the property. With his vision and the influence of several generations, the inn evolved gently into a hotel over the last three generations. The entire Graiff family invested much love and commitment to bring Markushof to its present state. Today, every detail of the hotel tells the story of its development, and we take pride in continuing this tradition.
